State of Play: Who’s still in the hunt across all the Limerick hurling grades

By Tom Clancy

This weekend there was ecstasy and agony in equal measure, as several clubs earned their county final place, while several others saw their season disintegrate before their very eyes.

The Limerick hurling season sees seven county titles up for grabs. While the lowest grade winner is known, there will be plenty of differing opinions as to where the remaining six pieces of silverware will go. Other clubs face a long winter, with relegation knocking on their door after a challenging season.

Interestingly, Na Piarsaigh, Croagh Kilfinny, Feenagh Kilmeedy and Monaleen (second team) are all in county finals again in 2024, while Garryspillane are the only team capable to bounce back after direct relegation. There is a sweet feeling in Bruree, St. Pat’s and Rathkeale who are in their first finals for a period without a big day out.

The final few weeks of the adult hurling season is upon us, so lets take a look at what’s on the menu.
