The Casey Appeal: Limerick star cleared to play All-Ireland Final

Limerick corner-forward Peter Casey has successfully overturned his suspension and will now be eligible to play in the up-coming All-Ireland final clash with Cork.

The Limerick forward received a straight red card for his supposed head-butt on Waterford’s Conor Gleeson, and until now, Casey was set to miss the All-Ireland final he and his teammates had worked so hard to get to.

However, Limerick fans breathed a sigh of relief when Limerick GAA released a statement announcing the outcome of Casey’s hearing, outlining that he was in fact cleared to play due to a successful appeals process.

“He successfully appealed his suspension on this Thursday evening, where the suspension was overturned by the Central Hearings Committee.”

Supposedly, the proposed ban was withdrew on the basis of video evidence at a Central Hearings Committee hearing that was attended by representatives from Limerick GAA and Casey himself.

Casey is now set to line out in green come August 22nd, when Limerick face Cork in the All-Ireland senior hurling championship final.
