Tommy Barrett’s Treaty United are in action this Friday night, as they visit sixth place Wexford. The Shannonsiders are one place, and point, below their opponents, but they have a game in hand, and remain in strong contention for the playoffs.
The sides have faced off twice this year, playing out a draw in March, and another draw in June.
Treaty had been unbeaten in three, but fell to Premier Division side Cork City in the FAI Cup last time out. Wexford secured a 3-0 win over Avondale United in their cup tie, and will be hoping to continue winning ways.
Enda Curran failed to find the net against Cork, but the Galway native has been impressive in league play, scoring in each of the last three games.
Curran, who recently surpassed 50 appearances for the Shannonsiders, will be vital if they are the find victory, and push on towards the playoff places.
Barrett’s men looked like outsiders for the playoffs following a torrid winless run, but have really steadied the ship of late, and will be hoping last weekend’s cup defeat doesn’t derail their league form.
A win on Friday would move Treaty into sixth, and perhaps as high as fifth, should Bray not pick up three points.
Moving into the playoff places would represent a real accomplishment from the Limerick side, who seemed far off such a finish not long ago.
