Treaty United confirm Senior Men’s squad as season opener approaches

Mark Walsh has been named as club captain for the upcoming season, the Nenagh man played in the club’s first ever competitive Senior Men’s game, and has been vital ever since.

The 2024 SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division season kicks off on Friday night, as Treaty United welcome Cobh Ramblers to the Markets Field as they begin their bid for promotion.

Tommy Barrett’s men narrowly missed out on the playoff positions last season, and will be hoping to have a strong year this time around, having made a number of exciting additions to the squad.

The Shannonsiders have been dealt a hammer blow with the retirement of club captain Marc Ludden, but there have been many important resignings made, with Enda Curran, Lee Devitt and Darren Nwankwo agreeing to stay on Shannonside to name a few.

Mark Walsh has been named as club captain for the upcoming season, the Nenagh man played in the club’s first ever competitive Senior Men’s game, and has been vital ever since.

The departing Success Edogun scored some crucial goals for Treaty last season, but the Shannonsiders will hope his void can be filled by the incoming David Tarmey, while Thomas Considine has also been impressing.

Yoyo Mahdy is another name added to the attacking ranks, having lined out for Bray Wanderers in 2023, with the 25-year-old adding crucial depth to the squad.

17-year-old defender Adam O’Halloran, who joined from Galway United, goes into a youthful defensive unit that already features Nwankwo and Robbie Lynch.

The 28-man squad features 11 current members and graduates of the Carelon Academy.

The club confirmed that the number 4 shirt remains retired in honour of the late Joe O’Mahony.
