Treaty United gear up for first ever match

There will be some history made this evening as Limerick’s Treaty United men’s team play their first ever match at 19:00 in Waterford.

Tommy Barrett’s men play Waterford FC at WIT in a pre-season friendly to prepare themselves for the upcoming League of Ireland First Division season. Treaty travel to Bray on the 26h of March before playing their first competitive home game at the Market’s Field against Wexford on the 2nd of April.

This evening’s fixture will be live tweeted by the Treaty United Twitter account as the club test themselves against Premier Division quality. Waterford are this season managed by Republic of Ireland legend Kevin Sheedy and the Blues have recruited well in the Winter. Among their ranks are former Ireland international striker Daryl Murphy and Ireland U19 midfielder Adam O’Reilly who is on loan from Preston North End.

Although supporters will be unable to attend the game it will still serve as an important occasion. The players need to quickly find match fitness ahead of the 26th of March and Tommy Barrett will be hoping to find his best XI sooner rather than later. Impressive signings like Joel Coustrain, Tadhg Ryan and Marc Ludden already have plenty of League of Ireland experience and combining such players with young mid-west talent will be key for the manager.

Possible Treaty United XI: Tadhg Ryan, Charlie Fleming, Clyde O’Connell, Anthony O’Donnell, Marc Ludden; Joel Coustrain, Aaron Fitzgerald, Joe Collins, Conor Melody; Adam Foley, Kieran Hanlon
