Treaty United now winless in 10 after Athlone Town defeat

Their last victory came away to Kerry FC on March 1 and they haven’t scored at home since March 8 against Bray Wanderers.

Treaty United winless run extended to 10 League of Ireland First Division games when they suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Athlone Town on Monday night.

An early second half goal from Dean Ebbe was enough to give this visitors all three points, on a night where both sides saw red in the Markets Field.

The result leaves Treaty nine points off the playoff positions in eighth. Athlone are up to third, ten points clear of Treaty and ten removed from leaders Cork City.

The Shannonsiders have now lost seven of their last eight First Division games, and are winless in ten. Their last victory came away to Kerry FC on March 1 and they haven’t scored at home since March 8 against Bray Wanderers.

Treaty are in the middle of a hectic run of five games in just 14 days. Ties with Finn Harps and Athlone Town have set the ball rolling with trips to Longford Town and Cobh Ramblers to come, as well as a home meeting with Wexford FC.

Wexford are in town this Friday, the game set to kick off at 7.45pm in the Markets Field.
