Treaty United playoff hopes hanging by a thread as they face long haul to Donegal

Barrett will view anything outside of a top five finish a failure, and needs to come away from Friday’s game with three points.

Treaty United face Finn Harps Friday night in the League of Ireland First Division, with kick off at 8pm. It is a must win fixture for the Shannonsiders, who have slipped down to ninth in the table, and must stop the rot.

A disappointing pair of games over the bank holiday weekend saw Tommy Barrett’s side fall to both Longford Town and Galway United, while their rivals managed to pick up points.

The Limerick outfit are currently five points off the playoff spots, although they have a game in hand on all the other teams, giving them some hope of a late push.

However, they need to start picking up points, and the trip to Donegal offers them a chance to leapfrog a direct rival, as Harps are eighth in the table.

Beating the hosts will be a tough task, as Treaty have already lost twice to them this season. A 2-0 loss away in April was followed by a 3-0 home defeat in late May.

While the Donegal side may appear to have the upper hand coming into Friday’s clash, they have struggled lately themselves, without a win in their last two.

Last time out they were on the receiving end of a hammering from Athlone, which will fill the visitors with some bit of hope.

New signing Corey Chambers is expected to start in goal following his maiden Treaty games last weekend, while fellow new arrival Adam Lennon got on the scoresheet last Friday, and will hope to play a part too.
