UNDER the floodlights of the University of Limerick 4G pitch last Friday night, UL Bohemian Women took up where they left off when they had their last game against Galwegians in early March, with an emphatic victory over a young Shannon team. It was an entertaining game with Bohs dominant at the set piece throughout and their 57-0 victory told its own story.
Full-back Aoife Corey dotted down first for UL Bohemian followed by tries from Niamh Kavanagh, Edel Murphy, Ciara O’Halloran, Louise Galvin and two from Laura O’ Mahony. Flanker Edel Murphy kicked four conversions before the break with the home side going in with a handsome lead.
Prop Sarah O’ Gorman powered over early in the second half and as the Shannon girls tired late in the game Bohs added to their tally. Fullback Aoife Corey completed her hat trick with a brace of tries in the second half while Edel Murphy added conversions to the Red Robins’ winning tally.
For UL Bohemian it was their young starlets that shone. Prop Sarah O Gorman was awarded player of the game for a brilliant performance, while Alana McInerney and Aoife Corey stood out in an experienced backline.
In the other games in the Energia Women’s Conference MC1, Railway Union had a big win over Suttonians 62-3 and Wickow lost at home to Blackrock College on a 61-0 scoreline.
