VHI set to host special event in Mungret Parkrun

The healthcare branch will be putting their own spin on things at the weekly event.

VHI Healthcare will be hosting a special event as part of their More Than Running campaign this Saturday at the Mungret parkrun in Limerick.

Olympian and VHI ambassador David Gillick will be in attendance and will lead the warm-up for participants and offer support and encouragement to newcomers and seasoned park runners alike.

VHI’s More Than Running campaign encourages people to participate in parkrun this summer by highlighting the health benefits that the event brings to its participants.

Mungret parkrun director Niall Mullane is encouraging anyone interested in participating to join them this weekend.

“The community at Mungret parkrun prides itself on being welcoming to all, so if you’ve never completed a parkrun before or have just let your parkrun habit slip, we would encourage you to give it a go this weekend.” he said.

Brighid Smyth, who is the Head of Corporate Communications in VHI, highlighted the inclusivity of the event and the benefits it will have on the participants.

Here at Vhi we love that there is a place for everyone at parkrun,”

Vhi is committed to helping our customers and communities live longer, stronger, healthier lives and our partnership with parkrun helps us deliver this.” she added.

The event’s special guest, Olympian David Gillick, expressed his feelings towards the parkrun and the impact it can have on your health.

The health benefits of adding parkrun to your weekly routine means that by throwing on your runners on a Saturday morning, and going to your local parkrun event to walk, jog, run or volunteer along the route, you’re setting yourself up not just for the weekend but for life.” he said.

Prizes will also be up for grabs at the event including a lucky dip full of branded goodies, two €50 One4All vouchers as well as other fun activities. Vhi will also be presenting the Community Wall space where fellow parkrunners can reflect on their experiences and share these by leaving a note on the Wall.

The event will take place at 9:30am this Saturday 23rd of July in Mungret Park. To register, visit www.parkrun.ie and select your chosen event as your home location. You will then receive a personal barcode which acts as your entry to any parkrun event worldwide.

Vhi Members can earn Vhi parkrun Rewards on the Vhi App when they link their parkrun account to their Vhi app.
