Victory for Limerick Celtics in round two of Division One

All four Limerick based sides were in action over the weekend, with two picking up wins while two lost their ties.

Round two of the national basketball leagues was jam packed over the weekend, with all four Limerick sides in action in their respective divisions.

Of the four Shannonside teams competing, two picked up wins, while two saw defeat in the second round.


Both the Limerick Celtics and Limerick Sport Eagles were in Division 1 action over the weekend, as the Celtics kept up their perfect start to the season with a 96-73 win over SETU Carlow.

The Sport Eagles played away to Scotts Lakers Killarney, and lost out by nine despite putting 89 points on the board.

The Celtics are one of three teams joined top of the league on six points, while the Sport Eagles are just behind in fourth with three points.


There was also a Celtics women’s side in action in the Division 1 over the weekend, but they tasted defeat in their round two clash with St Paul’s Killarney.

Limerick Sport Huskies were away to Marble City Hawks, and picked up an impressive 73-61 victory to make it two wins from two this season.

Following the results, Sport Huskies are joint top of the league with six points, with the Celtics in fifth on three points.
