WATCH: “’05 is a long time”-Doon manager reflects on historic U21s success

Doon battled back from a three point and man deficit against Na Piarsaigh last night to secure a first U21 Premier hurling county title since 2005 and bring joyous scenes to the Gaelic Grounds.

After the game, a clearly emotional Doon manager Paddy Coleman spoke to us to sum up his feelings at the final whistle.

“To give a performance like that against an experienced Na Piarsaigh team, you couldn’t have asked for better than that!”

Doon came into the game after being beaten in five consecutive finals, Na Piarsaigh, were the victors in four of those.

However, the underdogs somewhat avenged those losses and that in last years senior final against the same opponents with the two point victory.

“Unbelievable (Feeling). We’ve been beaten five times in a row. We badly needed one in Doon. (It’s) a big big thing for the club. ’05 is a long time.”
