Ahead of the Neville Jewellers Camogie Championship, we caught up with Noreen Flanaghan of Ahane to talk over what she’s expecting in the lead-up to the start of this year’s championship.
With a winning summer league campaign under their belt, preparation has been ideal for Ahane.
Following the long breaks away from the game because of the lockdowns, Flanagan has relished being back amongst it all.
“It really made us realise that we’re creatures of habit, really missed the training a few nights a week, the laughs and just getting out and being around people.”
With the intercounty players returning, competition for places is rife in the Ahane ranks.
“A lot of people put their hands up during the summer league, competition is rampant now. It’s great though, because that’s what you want. You want people to be pushing for their spot on the team.”
The challenge of Newcastle West awaits on Sunday. A tough challenge is expected.
“We’ve had plenty of dealings with Newcastle West over the last few years and we’re always expecting a tough battle.”
