Ballygiblin now move into the Munster final while Caherline prepare for the Limerick Intermediate ranks in 2022.
Caherline were beaten in the Munster Junior Hurling semi-final by Ballygiblin in Kildorrery yesterday.
The East Limerick outfit pushed the Cork champions all the way but a Dillon Sheehan goal in the 41st minute was enough to pull Ballygiblin into the final.
Reflecting on the clash, Caherline’s Paddy McCarthy said it was a “disappointment.”
“I’m disappointed. Disappointed more so for the boys. they have a huge effort put in. I think we have met 76 times between training and matches throughout the year. Going home we will be disappointed but fierce proud of the boys the way they performed. Not only the effort they put in today but over the last couple of months.”
But starting the season as outsiders to win the Limerick championship, McCarthy says the side can be pleased with their year and is hopeful that the team can build on a successful season as they begin their preparations for the Intermediate championship next year.
“We wanted to win two matches not to be in the relegation fight and then things started to roll for us. Intermediate will be a step up for us but I’m sure the boys will put the shoulder to the wheel again. There’s great characters in the team and we have a couple of young lads. Hopefully they will all buy into it again next year and we will be back.”
