The table toppers were back in league action for the first time since November.
Catholic Institute marked their return to EY Hockey League action with an entertaining 2-2 draw with Monkstown on Saturday afternoon.
The Limerick side trailed by two midway through the third quarter but had found parity by its conclusion.
Natasha Twomey and Sophie Moore had the Dublin outfit clear before Leah Cleary and Ciara Moloney leveled proceedings.
Coming into the game as table toppers with six wins from their opening eight contests, Institute were the pre match favourites but couldn’t get past the Dublin outfit.
And it was Monkstown who broke the deadlock after ten minutes, Player of the Match Chloe Watkins winning possesion deep in the Limerick half before squaring for Moore who finished from point black range.
That remained the score for over a half an hour until Twomey’s effort bundled into the Institute net four minutes after the restart.
But chasing the game, Institute grabbed the lifeline they needed with just over eight minutes of the third quarter to play as Cleary reacted quickest to Eimear Ryan’s goalbound effort to flick past Martha Duignan after the initial save.
Institute drew level with the final attack of the third quarter when Moloney’s strike off a penalty corner was deflected into the Monkstown goal.
Neither side could find the winner in the final quarter as they settled for a deserved draw.
