WATCH: Cathy Mee says Mayoral reception is a “huge honour”

After a stellar 2018 where they were crowned All Ireland Junior Football champions, the Limerick Ladies Footballers were duly honoured with a Civic Reception at Limerick City Hall.

Captain of the side Cathy Mee described it as a “huge honour”, describing the elation the players have felt since their triumph in Croke Park in September

“The support in Limerick has been unreal. Far more than we expected, even before the match but especially afterward I suppose. There’s been such a good buzz with us and the hurlers winning.”

Expectations are high in the county for the upcoming year with the team now promoted to the Intermediate Rank. However, as a veteran of the game now, Mee is taking nothing for granted, knowing full well the difficulties that her side will encounter having experienced highs and lows in her time on the team.

“Just take one game at a time because I was involved in a team that won the league two years ago and also the team that relegated the year before last so.”

Its much harder than people expect.”
