WATCH | Crescent College leave it late to snatch a draw in Munster School’s Senior Cup semi-final

The reigning champions looked dead and buried before a quickfire double of tries in the final five minutes in Cork.

A miraculous Crescent College Comprehensive comeback was enough to force a replay against CBC after their Munster Schools Senior Cup semi-final today.

A brace of quickfire tries in the final five minutes was enough to send the game to a replay next week with Eoin O’Callaghan kicking a conversion with the last play of the game.

The Crescent College centre had missed his previous attempt but made no mistake from a far more difficult angle out on the wing with the defence of their trophy on the line.

It was O’Callaghan himself that dotted down in the corner as the clock ticked into the red as the reigning champions turned a 15-3 deficit around with less than five to play.

Cathal Lanigan Ryan started the comeback in the 67th minute after a lovely set piece move saw him sail past the CBC defence. The conversion was wayward but O’Callaghan made up for it minutes later.

For CBC, they will be disappointed to let a large lead slip late on. They had the only scores of the opening half, their first try coming on the half hour mark that had them 8-0 in front.

CCC did get the scoring underway immediately after the restart but CBC responded to the penalty with their second try that looked like being enough until the very last kick of the game.

They will meet again next week while St Munchins face PBC tomorrow in the other semi-final.
