WATCH | Energia AIL: Men’s Divisions Preview

Irish Rugby have released a preview video ahead of the 2022/23 Energia AIL kick off.

The 2022/23 Energia All Ireland League gets underway this weekend with 25 games taking place at 2:30pm this Saturday.

Clontarf RFC are the current holders of the title as they beat Terenure College in an all-Dublin affair in the final back in early May this year with the score ending 29-23 at the Aviva Stadium.

Three sides from Limerick will be playing in Division 1A, two are in Division 2A while Bruff will begin their Division 2C campaign this weekend also.

In D1A, Young Munster open their campaign against Cork Constitution while Garryowen host Dublin University. Newly promoted Shannon RFC take on last year’s finalists Terenure College.

Division 2 A sees Old Crescent on the road in their opening game as they take on MU Barnhall in Parsonstown while fellow Limerick side UL Bohemians host Nenagh Ormond at the UL Arena.

Finally, in Division 2C, Bruff have a home tie against Omagh Academicals to look forward to.

The season will run right up until the end of April, with the top two sides facing each other in the final.

Young Munster – Division 1A – 6th place – 10W 0D 8L – 46PTS

Garryowen – Division 1A – 7th Place – 7W 0D 11L – 37PTS

Shannon – Division 1B – 2nd Place – 12W 2D 5L – 66PTS (Promoted)

Old Crescent – Division 2A – 5th Place – 9W 0D 9L – 45PTS

UL Bohemian – Division 2A – 7th Place – 8W 0D 10L – 39PTS

Bruff – Division 2C – 6th Place – 6W 1D 11L – 35 PTS
