WATCH: Highlights As Munster Labour To Overcome Stifling Castres

The past 17 meetings of Munster – Castres have always had plenty of drama and niggle but Saturday evening’s game was a turgid 80 minutes pockmarked with moments of play that gave fans hope that the game would ignite bit it never did.

A Jack O’Donoghue try in the second half gave Munster a 19-6 cushion. A late Castres try made that cushion a lot more uncomfortable but in the end the visitors showed no ambition to go for a win and kicked the ball dead on 80 mins.

Damian De Allende was the easy choice for man of the match with the South African centre superb whenever he got his hands on the ball. Ben Healy was impressive also with 14 points off the tee.

Despite the lacklustre performance, Munster have 9 points from a possible ten after their opening two games and given the upheaval the competitions has endured over the last two weekends, it is not a bad return.

Next up in the competition is the return game in France on January 14th at 8pm followed by Wasps at home on 23rd at 3:15pm.
