Ireland beat Japan 24-14 yesterday to keep their World Cup dream alive.
Ireland made it very difficult for themselves after conceding two first half tries and losing Katie Fitzhenry to the sin bin. However Tom Tierney’s side showed a lot of grit to score 3 second half tries through Alison Miller and replacement Paula Fitzpatrick (2) to come out on top in this pool C encounter.
It sets up Thursday’s clash with France as a World Cup 1/4 final as Ireland’s scoring difference would not be good enough to see them through as a the best placed runner up.
