WATCH: Ian Dowling believes Irish structure will be key to winning semi-final carrot

Sporting Limerick stopped by Rengeron on Monday for a Rugby Panel Discussion ahead of Ireland’s Rugby World Cup Quarter-Final clash with the All Blacks on Saturday in Toyko.

In front of a live audience were special guests, Marcus Horan, Ian Dowling, Niamh Briggs and Tom Savage (Three Red Kings). The Panel was hosted by Sporting Limerick Editor Raffaele Rocca.

Dowling believes that a structured approach from Ireland’s point of view will only increase their odds of a semi-final berth:

“I think that plays more into if we don’t win the ball cleanly. I think it plays more into New Zealand’s hands so like kind of when it comes more and more unstructured and that broken play I think that plays more to New Zealand’s hands. There’s that start there with Ireland that the majority of their tries come from set-piece play and all sorts the power play moves.”

“I think as soon as it kind of becomes more unstructured, the less likely we are to get the result.”
