WATCH: John Kiely on Limerick needing to be at their best to beat Kilkenny

Limerick’s win over Kilkenny in 2018 was their first in 45-years of championship action so it’s no surprise to see John Kiely say that his side face a huge challenge at Croke Park on Saturday.

The Cats under Brian Cody are a formidable challenge every time they turn up to any game and the Limerick manager says that his charges will have to be at their very best to book an All-Ireland Final spot for the second year running.

“They were hugely impressive. As well as Cork were playing in the first half, they were still 1-9 to 1-7 up.

“Their intensity levels were very high as well. Their tackling is ferocious. We have a huge challenge ahead of us on Saturday evening.

“We know that we are going to have to produce a really top class performance to get through.”

The Limerick manager also spoke about the return to full fitness of crowd hero Richie McCarthy ahead of Saturday’s game.
