Limerick entertain Clare in the Munster championship for the first time since 1996.
However, the sides are no strangers to one another with Clare defeating Limerick in each of the previous three seasons, something which Kiely has acknowledged ahead of the game.
“Clare have had our number for the last couple of years when it comes to championship matches, 2016, ’17 and ’18.”
“We were very disappointed in our performance in Ennis last year. We did not perform in any of our metrics, it was similar to our performance against Cork this year.”
Sunday will be Limerick’s second home game of the season after hosting Cork three weeks ago.
That game did not go to plan for Limerick with Cork running out eventual seven point winners and Kiely is keen that the players perform in front of the home support this Sunday.
“Of course you want to put in a good performance in front of your home support in particular.
If you look at 15 of the last 16 performances you can say the lads put in performances that the crowd can be proud of and happy with regardless of the result.”
“It’s our second home match. We didn’t perform in the first, we have to in the second.”
