WATCH: John Kiely on squad depth and confidence from Clare performance

Limerick take on Tipperary this Sunday in the final game the Round Robin series of the 2019 Munster Hurling Championship.

Tipp are virtually guaranteed their place in the final with a Limerick win seeing them play the Premier in the final at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.

Limerick manager John Kiely has rotated his side a number of times over the course of the championship as he says everyone in the squad is putting in tremendous effort to get their chance.

“They know the story themselves. They know they can’t play every game. There are other players pushing really hard for places and they have to be rewarded for their efforts aswell.”

After the Cork result in the Gaelic Grounds three weeks ago, Limerick were written off in some corners.

However the team has responded as champions do with back to back wins to put them in the position to qualify for the Munster final.

Kiely spoke about the confidence in the squad after recent results with the job far from done.

“We knew three weeks ago leaving here that we had three major steps to take in order to progress in the competition. We’ve two taken and a third one up for grabs on Sunday.

It will be difficult but that’s what sport is about at this level, taking on those challenges and challenging yourself to be the best you can.”
