WATCH: “It’s been a huge huge year”-Mike Prendergast on Ireland’s superb 2018.

The newly appointed backs coach of the Parisian outfit chats to Sporting Limerick about Ireland’s excellent 2018 season capped off with a 2-1 series win over the Australians. Ireland had to come from 1-0 down to engineer back to back wins in Melbourne and Sydney to seal a first series win down under since 1979.

It caps of a huge year in which the Irish side won the Grand Slam while domestically and in Europe Leinster claimed the honours while Munster were again competitive at the business end of the season.

Prendergast says Ireland really proved their mettle in the series down under.

“They showed incredible character in the last ten or fifteen minutes… But Ireland’s defence stood strong. The one thing you cansee is that they all trust each and they are all really clear on their role, on both sides of the ball, on attack and defence.”

(On the various successes thus far this year) “It’s been a huge huge year. A clean sweep at International level and you look at Leinster as well, Munster finished the season strong so rugby is really on a high in Ireland at the moment.”
