WATCH: Murray “Expecting a backlash” against Castres

Last Sunday saw Conor Murray finally return to European action for Munster in a season that has been heavily interrupted with a neck injury.

Much of the pre-match focus surrounded the partnership of Murray and Joey Carbery who were destined to get their first Munster start together.

However, the former Leinster man pulled up prior to the game with a tight hamstring putting the potential partnership on hold once more.

Into his place came JJ Hanrahan who had arguably his finest game for Munster and was duly honoured as Man of the Match in Thomond Park.

Murray says he wasnt too interrupted by the late change which was evident in their link up play throughout.

“Having JJ play the week before against Edinburgh, it was pretty seamless. A lot of people were talking about disruptions but I don’t think that happens too much nowadays.”

Munster’s heavy victory over the French champions was ‘frustrating’ for Murray with both sides making a number of uncharacteristic mistakes.

However, in France he is expecting a completely different game as the groups begin to take shape as the knockout stages approach.

“It’s a completely different kettle of fish this weekend. They are going to be at home, they’re a passionate team.”

“We’re expecting a backlash and that’s the challenge we have this week.”
