WATCH: “The lads inside are all very welcoming”-Sean French on Munster Academy

In thier new series profiling the eight new recruits that joined the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy in the summer, Munster Rugby spoke to Seán French on his pathway to the Academy and aspirations for the season.

A Cork Constitution clubman and UCC student, French has represented Munster at U18, U19 and U20 level and has also played for the Ireland U18s and U19s.

Adept at playing in the centre and on the wing, French played his schools rugby with PBC and won the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Senior Cup in 2017 along with fellow Academy players Jonathan Wren and Jack O’Sullivan, who captained the side.

A strong start to his first season in the Academy has seen 19-year-old French make five appearances and score two tries for Munster A in the Celtic Cup.

French has been delighted with life thus far in the Academy and outlines how all the players have been welcoming to the young man.

“The lads inside are all very welcoming. Their hilarious and we got on well inside so it’s good craic”
