WATCH: Tier looking for further Geraldines improvement this season

Geraldines AFC coach Bobby Tier is looking to build on last season’s very respectable 7th place finish by breaking into the top six in the new Premier Division format which see’s the league split into a top 6 and bottom 6 after the first round of games.

Last season, the aim for the club was to avoid relegation, having been promoted from Division 1A the previous season. However the return of Irish Junior international Danny O’Neill and striker Kevin Barry (both from Janesboro) along with Barry Hartnett from Ballynanty, Tier is confident that the side will be very competitive.

It’s great to get Danny back. I played with him here years ago as well when he just came up from minor level. He has really improved and gone up another level since then.

Kevin Barry is another great signing with premier division experience. He is a proven goal scorer and won the league with Janesboro last year. It’s great that we can attract that calibre of player because only a couple of years ago we were struggling to get 11 at times.

Geraldines begin their campaign with a tricky away fixture against Nenagh on Tuesday, August 13th at 6.30pm.
