WATCH – UL Bohemian and Ireland 7’s star Louise Galvin on swapping basketball for rugby

Ireland 7’s squad members Louise Galvin and Lucy Mulhall speak to World Rugby about switching from basketball and football to rugby.

UL Bohs centre Louise Galvin talks about her early roots in basketball where she had her first taste of sport on an International stage.

The Kerry native captained the UL Huskies basketball team to national Cup and League success during her years at university, while she was also a part of the Ireland 7’s side that secured qualification for this summer’s World Cup which will be held at at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

“Compared to some other sports that I’ve been lucky enough to play, rugby takes one hundred percent commitment a hundred percent of the time.”
