“We’re now looking to qualify for the county quarter-final” | Kildimo-Pallaskenry selector John Chawke on his side’s progression this season

This is Kildimo Pallaskenry’s first season playing the Senior Football Championship.

Kildimo-Pallaskenry maintained their hopes of moving into the knockout stages of the Limerick SFC at the first attempt after they drew 1-14 apiece with Galtee Gaels on Saturday evening.

After failing to pick up a win in their opening pair of rounds, KP they now have their eyes on a quarter-final place following the round three win over Ballylanders.

And trailing by six early in the second half, KP showed great composure to draw level as a loss would have ended their season early.

They sit level on points with Ballysteen and the Gaels heading into the final round of fixtures with safety confirmed.

KP selector John Chawke is delighted with his side’s progress at the highest grade, saying the initial objective was to stay up but they’re now looking to make it to the knockout rounds.

“Things are going well, we’re still in it. We came up with the attitude that we’d stay up, that job is as good as done now so we’re now looking to qualify for the county final which is fantastic.”

Their clash against Ballysteen will have a huge say on their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages, with three sides level on three points.

However, they will wait three weeks to play the game with the return of the SHC but Chawke believes the hurlers and footballers of KP drive each other on and can motivate each other in their respective sports.

“The both of them feed of each other which is fantastic like people ask you how’s it going with both of them and look as long you keep them players happy, they seem to be very happy all the time, we deal with them they deal with us, it’s like a big triangle.”
