Williams and O’Callaghan to Stay on at Pike

Pike Rovers FC have confirmed that Robbie Williams and Brian O’Callaghan will remain as manager and assistant manager respectively for the 2020/2021 season.

The club released a short statement on their social media account to announce the re-appointments.

“We’re happy to confirm that Robbie Williams & Brian O’Callaghan will be in charge of our Premier team for the 2020/21 season. We wish Robbie & Calla the best of luck for the upcoming season.”

Williams was appointed last season following the sudden departure of Mick Sheil in July. The former Limerick FC man also featured as a player in FAI, Munster Junior Cup and big league fixtures during the season.

However, the Hoops season was derailed somewhat by the rise of bitter rivals Fairview Rangers who knocked the club out of the Tuohy, FAI and Munster Junior Cups in the space of 6 weeks.

Williams will have a massive challenge ahead to continue Pike’s chanllenge for both local and national honours with the rise of the Fairgreen outfit. Continuity has been key for the Crosagalla outfit for the last ten years with the likes of O’Donovan brothers Eddie and Wayne, Gary Neville, Pat Mullins and Wayne Colbert setting the tone for success.

Colbert has now moved on to manage Prospect Priory but Williams and O’Callaghan will be expected to hold on to many key players. However, with several new managers in place, it could be the most interesting pre-season in years, not least due to the uncertain nature of it at present.
