Both intercounty teams have featured at the venues already this year.
Works are ongoing at both the TUS Gaelic Grounds and Mick Neville Park as the club season approaches. The surface at the Ennis Rd venue is undergoing a pitch development while there is a stand under construction at the Rathkeale grounds.
The TUS Gaelic Grounds is Limerick GAA’s home and hosts the Shannonsiders’ intercounty championship and league games.
This year the Gaelic Grounds has already played host to six National League games, two Munster hurling championship games as well as the homecoming for the hurlers last week.
Mick Neville Park has hosted to a number of National Football League games and is a regular venue for the county’s training in both codes at various levels.
Last year the TUS Gaelic Grounds was the venue for the Senior Hurling and Football finals, as well as the Camogie and Ladies Football deciders but with the pitch development, it remains to be seen will it be ready in time for this year’s contests.
Mick Neville Park hosted the Intermediate Football final last year and could do the same for the senior game should the Gaelic Grounds not be ready in time.
Limerick will return to action for the McGrath Cup and Munster Hurling League in late December/early January with those games candidates for the new surface on the Ennis Rd.
