Limerick FC announce their third signing in two days with the capture of Billy Dennehy

Limerick FC have confirmed the signing of former Cork City and St. Patricks Athletic winger Billy Dennehy. Dennehy is the club’s third signing in just two days following the arrival of Conor Ellis and Eoin Wearen yesterday.

Limerick will be boosted by the arrival of a player with such experience as Tommy Barrett’s squad has a very youthful look ahead of the 2018 Airtricity League campaign. Dennehy spent three years in the Sunderland academy between 2005 and 2008 before returning to Ireland later that year. The winger’s most successful spell came as a player at Shamrock Rovers where he won two league titles under Michael O’Neill. Furthermore, Dennehy had two separate spells at Cork City before moving to St. Patricks Athletic in 2016 and went on to make 50 appearances scoring six goals.

The former Cork man is the Shannonsiders 17th official signing for the senior squad ahead of the new season which starts on February 17th away at Sligo Rovers. Dennehy, Wearen and Ellis will all be expected to feature in Saturday’s pre-season friendly at the Univeristy of Limerick against Galway United.
