LISTEN: Limerick ladies aiming for semi-final spot when they welcome Derry

Limerick ladies football manager, John Ryan is under no illusions as to the task facing his side following their five point loss to Louth last weekend. Despite the setback, Limerick can still secure a semi-final spot, beginning with a win in Askeaton against Derry on Sunday.

“We need to beat Derry and we need to beat Fermanagh. Realistically they’re two championship games we are playing in the National League.”

Limerick are still well positioned to qualify for a semi final berth as they currently lie 4th, holding on to the last semi-final spot but can be over taken by Antrim should the northerners win their remaining three games. John Ryan’s side know that in order to put themselves in the best possible position, then the minimum requirement is two wins from the remaining two rounds.

It has been a mixed campaign for Limerick following their opening round loss to Wicklow but Ryan insists that the team can make serious improvements to their consistency with a win this weekend.

“We need to drive forward here. We need to focus the girls”.

The Division 4 Round 6 game between Limerick and Derry will take place in Askeaton on Sunday 25th March at 12pm.

Referee: PJ Ahern
