LISTEN: Dan Morrissey “We showed great character and fought very hard”

“We showed great character and fought very hard.”- Dan Morrissey reflects on terrific Limerick performance in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Last Saturday Dan Morrissey had arguably his finest game in the Green of Limercik as he was key in stifling the red hot Cork attack as Limerick secured a precious point in Pairc Ui Chaoimh despite being reduced to 14 men early on.

Morrissey was moved to centre-back early in the game after injury to Declan Hannon forced the captain off. Morrissey excelled in the role and even chipped in with a crucial second half point as Limerick were unlucky not to get a win in spite of their numerical disadvantage.

Morrissey credits the exceptional work-rate of the Limerick team who seized the initiative in the second period and demonstrated all that is good about Limerick hurling.

“It was nice to get a point out of it, especially after being down to 14 men early on, we showed great character and fought very hard.”

Limerick face Waterford in the Gaelic Grounds next week before a trip to Cusack Park the following Sunday knowing that a place in the Munster Final is in their own hands.
