LISTEN: Declan Nash looking to get “consistent standard” in championship opener

“It’s just getting that consistent standard week in week out and see where we go from there.”- Declan Nash ready for maiden championship clash in charge

Limerick take on Kilkenny this Saturday at 5pm in Bruff in the Liberty Camogie Senior Championship group 1 opener. It will be new Limerick manager, Declan Nash’s first game in charge of the side after he was promoted from Strength and Conditioning coach earlier this year. Kilkenny will provide a stiff test for Limerick, but the Treatysiders will take confidence in their stunning win over the cats in the League in April.

Limerick have reached four successive League semi-finals but are yet to make it out of their group in the senior championship since their promotion to the senior ranks, something they will be keen to rectify in 2018. We caught up with Nash ahead of the highly anticipated game to see how preparation has gone prior to the game.

“After the Munster semi-final, it was straight back to work on the Tuesday night and its grown since then. Confidence is well up and its just a case of let it happen on Saturday evening now.”

Confidence comes from preparation. If you look back on previous results we’re well capable of beating big teams on big occasions, our main stumbling block has been to do it consistently.”

“It’s just getting that consistent standard week in week out and see where we go from there.”
