WATCH – Limerick U20 manager on the future of Limerick football

The Limerick senior footballers were resigned to an early exit from the championship at the hands of Mayo last Saturday.

Although Billy Lee’s side got off to a flying start, in the end it was all too comfortable an evening for Stephen Rochford’s men who had eighteen points to spare over Limerick come the final whistle.

The treaty county are in a period of transition and finished second from bottom in the lowest tier of the national football league before crashing out of Munster following a heavy defeat to Clare.

However, Limerick U20 manager Martin Horgan says there is reason to be excited about the future of football in the county.

He gears his side up for a Munster Championship clash with his native Kerry this Friday in Newcastlewest (7.pm).

“It’s an excited time for Limerick football. My task at the start of the season was to develop an environment, to create a culture where these guys can play football and play football the way I feel it should be played. Nice attacking football.”
