WATCH: John Kiely says “both teams have improved” ahead of crucial 1/4 final

Despite losing out to Kilkenny last season in a qualifier, John Kiely says this Limerick have benefited from the extra league games as well as the round robin structure this year.

Speaking to the media this week, Kiely says the extra game time has really helped bring on some of the younger members of the panel.

“I think all the players are a bit more mature now and you’ve had the benefit of two  years of coaching and two years of physical development as well.  A lot of the lads have a bit more experience under their belts, plus they have more game time.

“I think the round robin series in Munster has been a huge benefit to the younger players in terms of all the games they’ve got. You’ve seen that with Kilkenny too with their younger players.

“They’ve benefited from the round robin too. Both teams have improved but it will be interesting to see who has improved the most, that’s the bottom line.”
