Kilkenny’s clash with Limerick this Sunday will be their third consecutive Sunday of championship hurling. The previous two weekends has seen back to back games with reigning All Ireland and Leinster champions Galway.
A fortnight ago Kilkenny hit three late scores to bring the game to a replay before Galway flexed their muscle last Sunday to send out a direct message to all other remaining counties.
John Kiely was a keen observer of both games and was impressed with Kilkenny’s never say die attitude in both games, something he will have taken on board for this Sunday’s game.
“Kilkenny just dug in and held on and on, got a few goals to bring themselves back into the game and showed great composure and calmness.”
“You have to admire their ability to keep in games that are going against them. They have a great depth to their panel, you saw that with their substitutes.”
“We know we have our hands full, it’s a massive challange for us but we are really looking forward to it.”
Limerick go into the game looking for a first championship win over the cats since the 1973 All Ireland and Kiely knows that only a complete 70 minute performance from his side will be good enough to get over the line.
