WATCH: Declan Hannon “We can’t just focus on one lad”

“WATCH: We can’t just focus on one lad”- Declan Hannon not focusing on any individual player.

The match between Limerick and Galway will throw up a number of mouthwatering match ups. With the teams so evenly matched, many have commented on the battle that will take place in the middle third with the likes of Cian Lynch and David Burke on show.

However, one match up that has gone under the radar is the battle on Limerick’s 40′ between Declan Hannon and Joe Canning. Hannon has been a revelation for Limerick since moving to no. 6 last summer and will hope to negate the influence of Joe Canning, one of the best hurlers of his generation.

Canning has roamed into midfield this year and Hannon will have to be vocal to alert his midfield and half-forward line to watch the Portumna dangerman while he anchors the Limerick defence. When asked about the Galway forward, Hannon said,

“Obviously Joe is one of the main lads. He’s hurler of the year and in line for it again this year.”

“We’ll have a plan in place for our own tactics and try implement them this weekend and hopefully that will negate Joe’s impact. Like Galway have have 16,17,18 players so we can’t just focus on one lad.”
