It is being widely reported today that Munster’s Ian Keatley and Jaco Taute are to leave the province at the end of the season.
Last night the42.ie revealed that Ian Keatley was to join Bennetton Treviso after falling well down the pecking order at Munster. They also revealed that Taute could be set to join Leicester Tigers on a two-year-deal.
Keatley joined Munster in 2011 and has made over 150 appearances for the province. He took over as the starting out-half when Ronan O’Gara retired but never really made the position his own.
In the last couple of years, he lost that spot to Tyler Bleyendaal and this season he has found starting chances difficult to come by due to the signing of Joey Carbery. He has only played four times in the Pro14, with all action coming off the replacements bench.
He now sits behind Carbery, Bleyendaal, JJ Hanrahan and Bill Johnston in Munster’s out-half options.
Taute is also set to end his time at Munster when his contract runs out with English Premiership side Leicester Tigers his likely destination.
The South African centre has struggled to make an impact since returning from a serious knee injury last season.
With Dan Goggin, Rory Scannell, Sammy Arnold and Chris Farrell preferred to him by Johann van Graan more often than not, Taute’s exit is no surprise.
