WATCH: John Kiely on break from championship and competition in the squad

After nearly four weeks without a championship game, Limerick face Kilkenny this Saturday in the All-Ireland semi-final.

After a hectic Munster Championship that was preceded by a long league campaign, Kiely was glad of the break for his players.

“It was nice for the lads to get a break after it. We were able to give them a week off and it’s not often you get the opportunity during the championship to give lads a clean break.”

Throughout the championship thus far, Kiely has rotated his squad heavily and is yet to name the same team in two successive games in the championship.

The competition for places in the side is well documented and Kiely says each player is determined to put their best foot forward in training with no player taking their foot off the pedal.

“They’ve put their best foot forward and have been working very hard. You wouldn’t expect any less from the lads. It means a lot to them to make the matchday 26 or 15 and we couldn’t have asked for anything more from the players.”
