Morrissey on the double as Ahane return to top level of Limerick senior hurling

A goal in either half by Dan Morrissey saw Ahane top group two of the Limerick SHC with a 2-17 to 1-19 win over Murroe-Boher.

The win sees Ahane finish above Ballybrown and Monaleen and they will ply their trade in group one next season.

Ahane led by three points in the run up to half time when Morrissey pounced for his first goal.

That helped them into a five point lead, but Murroe-Boher hit back through Jack Casey.

The free taking prowess of Seanie Tobin helped Murroe-Boher into the lead, but Morrissey struck again late on to give Ahane a vital victory.

It was to be disappointment for Monaleen after their dreams of promotion ended with a 1-26 to 2-12 loss to Ballybrown.

Monaleen knew a victory would have seen them promoted, but they were met by a powerful Ballybrown performance. Ballybrown now join Ahane, Kilmallock and Doon in the SHC quarter finals.

Elsewhere, Knockainey were relegated to Premier Intermediate hurling after a 0-18 to 1-8 loss to Garryspillane.
