WATCH: “The breakdown is not being refereed at all” Marcus Horan

Sporting Limerick stopped by Rengeron on Monday for a Rugby Panel Discussion ahead of Ireland’s Rugby World Cup Quarter-Final clash with the All Blacks on Saturday in Toyko.

In front of a live audience were special guests, Marcus Horan, Ian Dowling, Niamh Briggs and Tom Savage (Three Red Kings). The Panel was hosted by Sporting Limerick Editor Raffaele Rocca.

Former Munster and Ireland Prop Horan believes that when it comes to the breakdown, it’s simply not being refereed enough, or sometimes (in the case of Japan’s win over Scotland last Sunday) not at all:

“If I was Scottish watching that game yesterday, I would have been so frustrated. The breakdown was not refereed at all, the Japanese did not roll away and when they did, they rolled into the scrum-half.”

“I think that’s been a big issue at the World Cup is how the breakdown has been refereed so when you talk about art and being disciplined, we could be disciplined and lose the game because we were naive or we didn’t play the referee and I think southern hemisphere teams seem to have that sorted for this World Cup.”
