Limerick Hurling Team of the Decade: Left Corner Forward

The decade that was 2010-2019 is fast coming to an end.

For the Limerick hurlers, it was a mixed decade that started with a protest but would ultimately deliver a first All-Ireland title in 45 years.

Overall, Limerick won one All-Ireland title, Two Munster Championships, a Division 1 League Title and A Division 2 League title.

Over the next fifteen days in the lead up to Christmas, I will select my team of the decade that saw Limerick play 40 championship games and 68 League games.

Already we have had our Goalkeeper;

Right Corner BackFull Back & Left Corner Back,

Right Half-BackCentre Back Left Half Back;

On Christmas Day Cian Lynch and Paul Browne were named in midfield;

We had our right wing forwardcentre forward & left wing forward;

Earlier Aaron Gillane and Shane Dowling were selected in the full forward line with the final spot announced below.

Honours: All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, 2x Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Division 1 League Title, Division 2 League Title, U21 Munster Hurling Championship, Senior All-Star.

Limerick’s Mr.Consistency throughout the decade, Graeme Mulcahy has been arguably the player of the decade for his county.

Since his arrival in 2009, Mulcahy has held down the corner forward slot on the team with his accuracy and quickness of feet a staple.

Was incredibly unlucky not to be nominated for hurler of the year in 2018 after a string of brilliant performances, but was rewarded with a first ever All-Star.

An elder statesman of the current squad, it is a testament to Mulcahy that he has been able to keep his starting place even with the influx of talent in the past few years.

Althogh he has hurled at the highest level for over a decade now, Mulcahy is just 29, with a couple of more years at the top for the Kilmallock remaining hopefully.
