Two games down for decision in Premier U21 Championship this weekend

The Mint Catering Premier U21 Hurling Championship returned during the week with three games played on Tuesday evening.

Defending champions Doon got their campaign off to a winning start, as did Mungret and Garryspillane.

This Saturday there are a further two games down for decision as the groups begin to take shape.

Kilmallock v Na Piarsaigh

Saturday Febraury 8 in Mick Neville Park at 1.30pm

These sides get their campiagns off to a start this Saturday in a repeat of the 2017 final.

Kilmallock were champions in 2018, ending Na Piarsaigh’s run of six consecutive county titles at this grade.

Defending champions Doon are current Group 1 table toppers after the defeated Patrickswell 1-18 to 1-9 last Tuesday.

Next Tuesday, Nap take on Doon while Kilmallock face Patrickswell.


Mungret St Pauls v Ballybrown

Saturday February 8 in Chaerdavin at 2pm

In Group 2 there is a clash of neighbours Ballybrown and Mungret St Pauls in Caherdavin.

In the opening round, Mungret accounted for Ahane 2-17 to 1-15 while current minor champions Ballybrown were defeated by Garryspillane 2-16 to 0-17.

Another Mungret win would put them in pole position to move into the semi-finals while Ballybrown know a win is a must.

On Tuesday Garryspillane take on Ahane in the groups other game.
