Limerick Big Ball Club 7’s returns this weekend

Mick Neville Park will host the second annual Big Ball Club 7’s tournament this Saturday, July 15.

The tournament is organised by Rathkeale GAA club and serves to honour the memory of Shane Hourigan.

Last years inaugural tournament was a great success with Ballylanders taking the top prize, in doing so they qualified for the Kilmacud Crokes All Ireland 7’s.

18 clubs took part last year and this year Rathkeale GAA are hoping for a similar turnout.

Teams will compete on a league basis from 10.00am, with each team guaranteed at least 3 action games, with the winners progressing to the last 16 knock out stages. The tournament will be decided on the day.

Rathkeale GAA PRO Dave Guilbourne is hoping for a good turnout from the supporters again this year.

“We’re looking for a great turnout again. We’d like the Rathkeale locals to come out in force to support the tournament and also the surrounding clubs and parishes around Limerick, in support of a great tournament in memory of a great man.’
