HIGHLIGHTS | Newcastle West crowned champions after SFC final win over Adare

Newcastle West claimed the Fr Casey Cup over the weekend with their 1-8 to 0-5 win over defending champions Adare in the Limerick senior football championship final at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

Substitute AJ O’Connor made his presents felt when he found the back of the Adare net five minutes from the final whistle to seal the win for NCW and deny Adare back-to-back county titles.

In a tense encounter, the sides exchanged just six scores in the first half. Adare didn’t score from play until the 35th minute the scores even at the final water break, 0-4 apiece.

But in the final quarter, the introduction of O’Connor and Diarmuid Kelly helped to swing the balance in favour of the Magpies who were deserved six point winners in the end.
