Limerick Ladies Intermediate Football Championship Final Preview | Drom/Broadford v Oola

The TUS Gaelic Grounds will play host to this year’s 3 Dental Limerick Ladies Football Intermediate Final when Dromcollogher Broadford take on Oola in the decider this Sunday.

The 12noon clash will act as a curtain raiser for the senior final which throws in at 2.15pm on Sunday.

Dromcollogher Broadford will be seeking to defend the title they won last year at the expense of Mungret St Pauls. Against the 2019 losing finalists, Drom Broadford were one point winners in a thrilling 2-8 to 3-4 victory.

Path To The Final

Dromcollogher / Broadford

  • Rd1: Bye
  • Rd2: Beat Oola 1-13 to 1-10
  • Rd3: Beat Knockainey 4-9 to 1-5
  • SF: Beat Murroe/Boher 0-12 to 0-3

Oola

  • Rd1: Beat Knockainey 2-16 to 0-7
  • Rd2: Lost to Drom/Broadford 1-10 to 1-13
  • Rd3: Bye
  • QF: Beat Fr. Casey’s 4-14 to 1-5
  • SF: Beat Mungret St. Pauls 0-7 to 1-9

Interestingly, their first game of the year was against this weekend’s opponents as they claimed a hard fought 1-13 to 1-10 win over the East side.

They sealed progression straight to the semi-finals with a 4-9 to 1-5 win over Knockainey that guaranteed top spot in group one.

In the last four, they took on Murre Boher where they were convincing 0-12 to 0-3 winners in booking a second successive final berth.

Oola had a comprehensive start to the season with a 2-16 to 0-7 win over Knockainey before the reversal against Drom.

But in the quarter-finals, they signalled their intent with a 4-14 to 1-5 win over Fr Caseys that set up a clash with Mungret St Pauls in the semi-final, with the City side qualifying directly for the semis after winning both of their group games.

Oola were full deserving of a five point, 1-9 to 0-7 win over the city outfit in the last four encounter as they booked their place in the final.

Last Five Limerick Ladies Intermediate Football Championship Winners

2020: Drom/Broad-ford

2019: Old Mill

2018: Knockainey

2017: St Brigids

2016: Drom/Broadford

Drom Broadord will look to the likes of Limerick Ladies Football captain Niamh McCarthy at centre
back as well as Meadbh McCarthy and Aine Cunningham who all featured in Limerick’s All-Ireland
semi-final loss earlier this year.

As for Oola, they will look to the likes of Amy Ryan and Leah Coughlan for scoring power in the
forwards.

A number of Drom’s contingent will have to contend with a second county final next weekend with
Killeedy facing Newcastle West in the senior camogie final.

Yet, the sole focus for both sides will be this weekend’s date on the Ennis Road.
