PREVIEW | Ardscoil Rís and St Joseph’s Tulla meet in novel Harty Cup final

The TUS Gaelic Grounds will host the first final meeting between the pair of schools.

Twelve years after securing their maiden title in the Dr Harty Cup, Ardscoil Rís will be looking to add a sixth triumph to their resumé this Saturday afternoon.

They meet Clare school, St Joseph’s Tulla in the decider in the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 1pm.

And while Ardscoil will be looking to add to their burgeoning trophy collection, their opponents will be seeking a first title in their first final appearance.

The North Circular Rd school, who were crowned champions in 2010, ’11, ’14, 16 and ’18 started with a 0-16 ti 0-18 win over Nenagh CBS.

This saw them received a bye into the last eight where they overcame Midleton 1-14 to 0-12.

The city school left their best for last however, beating Thurles CBS 4-18 to 1-12 in the semi-finals.

The Clare school have been equally impressive in reaching the final despite an early set back.

Things didn’t get off to the best start as they were beaten by De La Salle by two points in the first round. But they responded in style with an extra time win over St Coleman’s.

This was followed by a win over 2019 and ’20 finalists CBC as they beat the Cork outfit 1-17 to 1-15. That mean they were paired with De La Salle once more, this time with a final place on offer. And making amends for the opening clash, they saw off the Waterford school to book a maiden place in the final.
