“We probably know each other a bit too much if anything!”| Feenagh-Kilmeedy’s Dan Goyer on familiarity with rivals Castlemahon ahead of final

Feenagh-Kilmeedy were crowned Junior A Football Champions just twelve months ago.

The final of the Premier Junior A Football Championship takes place this Sunday with neighbours Feenagh-Kilmeedy and Castlemahon competing for the honours in Tournafulla.

It’s been an incredible few years for Feenagh-Kilmeedy in the football scene as they look to surge through the ranks with the opportunity of back-to-back promotions on the cards this Sunday.

In their first season at Premier Junior level, the side notched three wins and two losses from their five group games and followed up with quarter-final and semi-final victories against Kilteely Dromkeen and Croom respectively.

One team they couldn’t get the better of however was Sunday’s opponents Castlemahon. The Junior champions suffered defeat against their local rivals in both the league and the championship this season with their championship loss preventing them from the top-spot in group two.

But Feenagh Kilmeedy’s Dan Goyer isn’t worried about the recent results against Castlemahon believing his side have learned from their defeats and is looking forward to playing against them in a final.

“There’ll be no worry at all. We’ll be looking forward to it especially a local rivalry, we’ve obviously had learnings from it (Castlemahon losses) and they’ve had learnings from it.

“We probably know each other a bit too much if anything! But it’ll be nothing but excitement and I suppose, playing your local rivals in a county final is what both teams would’ve wanted at the start of the year.”
